More than just diagnosing and managing disease, at The Paediatric Specialists our aim is to also promote health and prevent disease. Our doctors and allied health professionals such as a diabetes educator, dietitian, exercise physiologist and psychologist all strive to achieve this. In addition to physical health, we believe that an important part of promoting the health and wellbeing of children is to celebrate and highlight their efforts, talents, and achievements.
Unfortunately, many children and young people are not given the opportunity to reach their potential through lack of education, resources or support. What is also sad is the belief that children and young people do not have a voice or are unable to achieve anything worthwhile… that suddenly their ability to impact their world only occurs when they turn 18 and officially become an adult. Admittedly, maturity and inspiration can occur at a wide variety of ages but it is so inspiring to see young people be passionate, eloquent, brave and make a difference. Congratulations to Malala Yousafzai for being the joint winner of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.
