Dr. Minna Koo, originally from Finland, spent her formative years in the United Kingdom. A graduate of the University of Cambridge and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London, her academic achievements laid the foundations for a unique career path.
Transitioning to Sydney, Minna pursued specialist paediatric training at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW) while concurrently managing the responsibilities of motherhood to three children. Across both metropolitan and regional healthcare settings, Minna accrued extensive experience in general paediatrics and neonatology, cementing her reputation as a seasoned professional.
Currently serving as a consultant paediatrician (Visiting Medical Officer) at CHW, Minna remains committed to providing exceptional care to her young patients. Her expertise extends to past consultant roles within the Genetic Metabolic and Paediatric Rehabilitation Services at CHW, as well as contributing to the NSW Rural Paediatric Support Program through Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Minna’s professional ethos is underscored by her unwavering dedication to children and families facing complex health conditions, disabilities and behavioural challenges. She is driven by a passion for advocacy and takes pride in delivering personalised, goal-directed care to nurture each child’s potential. She has a particular interest in adolescent health, ADHD and neurodevelopmental disorders, achondroplasia and growth and development.
Outside of her professional endeavours, Minna finds fulfilment in artistic pursuits, including music, ballet and crafts, and in exploring new horizons with her teenage and young adult children, enriching their lives with shared experiences and adventures.
